Pro Health Care Reform Advocates Counter-protest Tea Party at Boswell's Office

In the aftermath of US Representative Boswell’s bold public statement yesterday and great letter to the editor in the Register today, the tea party put him in their sights.Rally at Boswell's Office

Organizing for America (OFA) organized a march and counter rally at Rep. Boswell’s Des Moines office from noon to 1pm. ICAN staffed it and promoted it to our affiliates and Health Care for America Now partners. We brought signs and chanted. Sue Dinsdale, our organizer, was interviewed by local TV (Channel 5).

OFA did a great job with this last minute event. A crowd that included seniors, babies, people with disabilities and people of many races held a lot of hand-written signs. Lots of chanting and energy. “Our side” outnumbered the tea party by about 3 or 4 to 1. An estimate put the opponents at 20 or so, advocates numbered nearly 100. Plus we were louder and cuter!
