Join ICAN
Our Members
Membership in ICAN means joining other Iowans committed to economic, social, and environmental justice. Our members are the source of our strength. ICAN's members come from all over Iowa, and from all walks of life. They are rural and urban; young and old; lower, middle, and upper income; male and female; multi-racial; and have different faiths and political persuasions.
Our members:
- Support our work and provide ICAN with a reliable broad base of financial support.
Provide grassroots activism and leadership.
- Provide ICAN with the backing we need to influence legislators. Legislators listen when they know ICAN has thousands of members throughout the state and within their district.
- Help drive the direction of the organization by electing seven members of the 21 person Board of Directors and participating in the Annual Delegates' Assembly.
How can I become a member of ICAN?
Membership means joining more than 6,000 other Iowans committed to economic, social, and environmental justice. Most of our funding comes from our members, so we ask you to dig deep.
In our work, it's a pay now or pay later situation. Your contribution goes a long way when combined with those of our other members to keep utility rates down, keep our water clean, or preserve Medicaid and Medicare. We can't outspend the opposition, but working together we can out number them with grass roots activism.
Together, we are the majority! Its our members who put the "We Can" in ICAN. Once you've become a member, we keep you updated by phone and by mail, alerting you to new initiatives we are backing and existing consumer and environmentalprotections that are threatened.
