ICAN Joins Network for Immigration Reform Now

ICAN has been one of the leaders of the peace and justice work in Iowa and have added our support to a newly formed network for immigration reform. The Network for Immigration Reform Now is building a campaign for humane immigration reform legislation to be passed this summer. This work is at a critical juncture. Advocates fear if it is not passed this summer it will be years before this opportunity comes again.

Network for Immigration Reform Now is planning a series of events to advance the passage of immigration reform during this Congressional session.

Walk for Immigration Now June 15

The first event is a Walk for Immigration Reform Now to take place on Saturday, June 15; 1 pm – 3 pm. This walk through the Latino business corridor in Des Moines to the Hispanic Education Resources will highlight the gifts the Latino communities have brought to Iowa.

Other events building toward a late July rally include: an interfaith prayer service and lobby activities.

We hope to make this a broad based and visible campaign. On behalf of the network, ICAN invites you to be part of this effort.
